Fewer toys were produced in 2016 than earlier years. (The line had been due to finish the previous year.) The best figures were not the subscription figures but some great Power-Con exclusives and an intriguing He-Man variant.

LORD MASQUE

EVIL SERVANT OF SHOKOTI

Lord Masque featured in an episode of the He-Man cartoon. The Classics figure is one of the better entries from the cartoon canon.

VULTAK

EVIL FLYING ZOOKEEPER

Vultak is an Evil Horde character from the She-Ra cartoon. The red eyes give the figure an impressive malevolent stare. There is some nice detailing on the cuffs and boots.

SERPENTINE KING HSSSS

EVIL DISGUISED LEADER OF THE SNAKE MEN

This figure joined the line after fans pointed out to Mattel that Battle Armor King Hssss had not included a snake form. Not shown in the photos is the additional head which can be used on either earlier King Hssss figures.

DARIUS

LEADER OF THE GALACTIC PROTECTORS

Darius was intended for the He-Man (New Adventures) line but was never released. The Classics version has some good sculpting detail. The cloak is a poor fit on the armour.

CRITA

EVIL MUTANT BEAUTY

Classics Crita has very restricted arm articulation due to the shawl which joins both sleeves. She is a character from the He-Man (New Adventures) cartoon.

DESPARA

POWERFUL FORCE CAPTAIN OF THE EVIL HORDE

Despara was the subscription-exclusive figure of 2016. This She-Ra character is from a comic story. Two heads were included to represent her Horde-aligned personality and her reformed character.

GENERAL SUNDAR

HEROIC FORMER HORDE GENERAL

General Sundar comes from the She-Ra cartoon. The figure is simplified version of the Horde Trooper design. Extra helmets were included which could be used on spare Horde Trooper bodies.

TUSKADOR

MIGHTY TUSKED GALACTIC GUARDIAN

Tuskador is a character from He-Man (New Adventures) line. The Classics version is a huge figure which uses some Ram Man parts. The head sculpt is very detailed.

HORDE WRAITH

SORCERER FOR THE EVIL HORDE

Classics Horde Wraith lacks texture but is still quite interesting. The character originates from the 200X cartoon. The staff has a slot which fits somewhat awkwardly over the right hand.

ANTI-ETERNIA HE-MAN

MOST EVIL MAN IN THE UNIVERSE

It seems odd that a plain figure can be so interesting, but Anti-Eternia He-Man pulls it off. He was originally called Anti-He-Man and came from a German audio play. A good number of accessories were included.

GRANAMYR

GREAT DRAGON LORD OF DARKSMOKE

The green version of Granamyr was a 2016 Power-Con figure. He is exquisitely detailed and is superior to the 2012 edition. The colour scheme used on this occasion reflects the character’s minicomic appearance.

BEAST MAN

SAVAGE BLOOD-RED HENCHMAN

Another Power-Con figure, Beast Man is striking. The simple colour scheme, which comes from the Series One minicomics, is enhanced by subtle shadowing. The yellow eyes are piercing and maniacal. A superb figure.

CAMO KHAN

EVIL CAMOUFLAGED MASTER OF SNAKES

This superb Kobra Khan figure is based on a licensed Vintage variant named Kobra Khan Camuflado that was produced in Argentina. The Classics version was one of the Power-Con exclusives.

SKELCON

EVIL DEMONIC MINION OF SKELETOR

Skelcon was included with the Roton vehicle. The figure is based on a race of creatures which appeared in illustrated form in a Masters of the Universe storybook produced by Ladybird Books in the UK.
