Masters of the Universe Classics was launched at the tail end of 2008 with a small selection of action figures. The obvious link to the Vintage toys was the new line’s strength and helped attract the interest of collectors.

KING GRAYSKULL

HEROIC ANCESTOR OF HE-MAN

King Grayskull was a character from 200X media but never before produced in toy form. Two versions (human and bronze statue) were produced as SDCC exclusives. A tiny run of translucent figures was made for Mattel staff.

The hero of the line was done very well… with a couple of exceptions. The shoulder parts were placed back to front. The red shading around the eyes looked like an allergic reaction. But the head sculpt was impressive.

SAVAGE HENCHMAN

Beast Man is one of the best figures of the entire line. The brown armour and red whip shown in the photographs were not supplied with the figure but included in the Ultimate Battleground Weapons Pak in 2010.
