Super7 released five Classics figures in 2017 which had already been produced much earlier in the line by Mattel. They were not straight reissues though; they were given extra accessories and modified colour schemes.
These versions of the figures – Teela, He-Man, Skeletor, Ram Man and Faker – were welcome additions to the line even if they were easy choices. Perhaps the most important figure was Ram Man in his minicomic colours.
Included with the toys were fake minicomics, or cards illustrated as if they were the covers of new stories. Queen of Castle Grayskull was very obviously a tribute to King of Castle Grayskull and is styled after Alcala’s artwork.
The others were more in keeping with the artistic style of the disappointing Classics minicomics, but a title such as Mer-Man Meets Ram Man! clearly links back to the Series Two minicomics. The illustrations are to be applauded.
Of considerably less interest are the biographies and story extracts which were printed on the reverse. The Classics canon was far too complicated. I have included them for the sake of completion but they can be ignored.
